aNaoya-jo Castle ruins

Naoya-jo Castle ruins in the south-west of Fukui Cave is the vestige of a mountain castle built in the Warring States period. There are different stories behind its origin. The most dominant one goes that the castle was the base of the Shisa clan and built by the first lord Sadamu in the middle of the 13th century. The castle is one of the most important mountain castles in the prefecture because its historical background is clear, and the remains are preserved in good condition. The local preservation society frequently organizes sightseeing tours.
